Creative Habits for Soul Care
Have you ever wondered why some people make it a priority to create something new every day? It may seem like a luxury or a hobby, but in reality, creativity is a necessary daily discipline for soul care, mental health, and overall wellness. When you engage in creative activities regularly, you are living a ChangeMAKER lifestyle that nurtures your mind, body, and soul connection.
How does creativity contribute to soul care?
Creativity is a powerful tool for soul care because it allows you to tap into your innermost thoughts and emotions. When you engage in creative activities, whether it's painting, writing, cooking, or crafting, you are connecting with your inner self on a deeper level. This connection can help you gain clarity, find peace, and even experience moments of transcendence.
What role does creativity play in mental health?
Creativity has been shown to have numerous mental health benefits. When you engage in creative activities, your brain releases dopamine, a neurotransmitter that is associated with pleasure and reward. This can help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. Additionally, creativity can improve cognitive function, boost self-esteem, and provide a sense of accomplishment.
How does creativity contribute to overall wellness?
Engaging in creative activities on a daily basis can have a profound impact on your overall wellness. Creativity allows you to express yourself, explore new ideas, and problem-solve in innovative ways. This can lead to personal growth, increased resilience, and a greater sense of fulfillment in life. When you prioritize creativity, you are investing in your well-being and setting the stage for a more joyful and peaceful existence.
So, why should you choose to create every day? Because when you make creativity a priority, you are taking care of your soul, mental, and emotional well-being. By nurturing your mind, body, and soul connection through creative expression, you are making mindful changes that can positively impact all areas of your life. So, embrace your creativity, give thanks for the gift of inspiration, and watch as your relationships, joy, and peace flourish.
It has been a rough couple of years for me. At age 53 I am finally making time to listen and learn from where my soul speaks. In October 2024 I had a lumpectomy done on my left breast and was cleared of breast cancer. I have been placed on a high percentage category of possibility of getting breast cancer in the future so I go for imaging every six months to check how things are progressing. In June of 2025 I went in for my test and all the imaging came back clean. Thank you, Jesus! I also have had a battle and struggle with fibroids, infertility since my 30s. In 2012 I had a Myomectomy performed to remove fibroids the size of a baseball. In 2023 the fibroids had grown again, now to the size of a baby's head in its 4th month of development. I had a procedure done that same year to eliminate many of the quality of life side effects the fibroids created. Its not easy to slow down and focus on self care and especially soul care. But life has finally gotten my full attention and now I make it more of a habit to practice the creative discipline of creating art cloths. It doesn't have to take too much time, 15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour if you're blessed to have the opportunity to do a deep dive into the practice. It all counts for JOY, in the end its the process that provides the medicine our soul cries out for. Many of these art cloths are mini artworks with BIG stories to tell. I've been telling and sharing my art memories since the early 2000s. Its my pleasure to share a small snap shot of my digital journal with you here through this BLOG POST. You are not alone, we all have a history and a future; let's create and share in community. Blessings, Sandra
